Best backpacking gear

Below are our recommendations for the best lightweight backpacking gear. We made these choices based on 24 years combined experience. Most of our backpacking trips have been in the mountains, forests, and deserts of the American West.

The reason we focus on lightweight gear is because we feel that a lighter pack is the key to having a safe, enjoyable trip. By packing light, you will be less likely to get injured and be able to go further into the backcountry.
